DATES AND TIMES

 

Check-in:  Monday morning, June 18th – between 7:00 - 8:30 a.m.

 

Check-out:  Friday night, June 22nd – approximately 9:30 p.m. 

 

NO EXCEPTIONS:  Check-in and Check-out times are not variable

 

FACTS

 

Dress Code: One will be strictly enforced - please pay particular attention to the guidelines set forth below.

Meals: Lunch Monday through dinner Friday will be provided.  All dietary needs and restrictions are accounted for in the Pepperdine cafeteria.  (Note: Please have breakfast before arriving Monday morning.)

Telephones: There are no telephones in the dorm rooms; however, a number of pay phones are available.  You may receive messages and/or letters through the Chancellor’s Office. Please note: Cellular phone reception is not reliable in Malibu.

Accountability: You will be required to adhere to the Pepperdine University rules of conduct.  You will be responsible to the Seminar Director and staff of Counselors at all times throughout the week.  No Student will be permitted to leave the campus for any reason.

Stipulation: The Director reserves the right to dismiss any student whose behavior is disruptive of the intent and purpose of the seminar.

DRESS CODE

 

You will be attending seminar sessions each of the five days, guest speakers and YCS counselors will be wearing casual-business attire each day.  It is essential that you bring enough appropriate clothing for daily seminar sessions: dresses, skirts, pants, nice walking-shorts, collared shirts, jeans in good condition.

 

Unacceptable clothing includes: short-shorts, t-shirts with logos, wife-beater tanks, cropped-tops, gang apparel.

 

Any type of casual clothes is acceptable for your free time.

 

BEDDING & PERSONAL ITEMS

 

You must bring all of your own bedding and personal items: sleeping bag or sheets, pillow, towels, soap, hair dryer, clothing hangers, toiletries, alarm clock, etc.

 

CLOSING BANQUET - FRIDAY NIGHT

 

Mandatory for students, strongly advised for parents/guardian

 

Maximum of 2 guests per student Cost per guest: $30

 

Banquet Reception:  5:30 - 6:30 p.m.  Banquet Dinner & Program:  6:30 - 9:30 p.m

Banquet Attire: Business - Coat and Tie, Dresses and Pantsuits (Semi-formal)

TRANSPORTATION

 

You are responsible for your transportation to and from Pepperdine.  If you would like to carpool, Lisa in our office will provide you with phone numbers of other students in your area.   You can reach her at Rocky@PepperdineYCS.com

You may drive your own car and park it in a designated location on campus but you will not have access to it throughout the week. 

MONEY

 

A $20.00 (REFUNDABLE) room-key deposit is required at check-in Monday morningYour check or cash will be returned to you Friday, provided your key is returned.

 

No additional money is necessary.  You may choose to bring spending money for the University bookstore and vending machines

 

TALENT SHOW

 

A casual and entertaining talent show is scheduled for Thursday night.  If you wish to participate, please bring whatever props/instruments you will need.
